Black Lives Matter: Our Response at Funnie and Friends
Black lives matter.
At Funnie and Friends, we stand in solidarity with the Black community in the fight against racism and injustice.
Here’s what that means for us
At Funnie and Friends, we are honored to have decades of experience serving Indy’s Black communities with themed birthday parties and children’s entertainment.
We must continuously check in with ourselves and reflect on our own actions as a business. We will continue to read, learn, listen and—most importantly, act—as we take the first critical step from being passively against overt racism, to becoming actively antiracist.
This movement will take time and nothing short of a long-term commitment will suffice.
It will require consistent focus and diligence, but we believe that there is also plenty of room for community, connection and joy as we move forward toward a more united future. And we will not stop until we get there.
How we can all help
The following is a list of organizations that support Indy’s kids. We have worked with these organizations for several years and support their missions. You can support these organizations by following their social media channels, attending their local events, and donating.
Mackida LoVeal & Trip (MLT) Outreach Center – This local community organization helps students improve their study habits and confidence through alternative education programs and life coaching.
Church of Glory – Run by Pastor Donald Edwards Jr., community leader and host of the annual Victory Over Violence event. You can make your donation via the home page of their website.
Fathers and Families Center – This local organization provides life-skill development, job-readiness training, education, counseling, and help finding gainful employment for Indianapolis fathers and families. Donate here.
Children’s Bureau – This local organization works with families in or out of “the system” to keep them together. Donate here.
